Midlife update! In Harlingen, the Netherlands, Damen Shiprepair Harlingen is working on a major maintenance of HNLMS Snellius. The Snellius is one of the hydrographic survey vessels of The Royal Netherlands Navy, which maps out the seabed and sea routes. It is useful for creating up-to-date nautical charts, but also for military exercises and operations. After 12 years of intensive use, the Snellius was in need of major maintenance and a refit, a job entrusted to Damen. One p...art of the electrical work is the replacement of all cable transits on board. Now Roxtec modules are used in the frames for optimal safety, water-tightness, fire resistance and spare capacity for any updates and refits in the future. The Snellius is thereby ready for the second half. In this project, Roxtec BV provides the Roxtec support and service. Multinational petroleum corporation Petrobras turned to Roxtec for verification of the cable and pipe transits onboard one of their FPSO vessels (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) before final approval from the classification society. Petrobras also asked the cable and pipe transit specialist to educate engineers and installers of Petrobras and the Jurong Shipyard on how Roxtec seals work. Roxtec performed transit inspections onboard the FPSO. The aim was to verify ...the installation quality and increase the knowledge about the sealing solutions. "Roxtec experts responded quickly, and we saved a lot of time" The Kotlovka 220/20 kV substation needed fire-rated, gas-tight, and removable seals for the cables coming up through the floor to the GIS room. A great project! The Victory Boogie Woogietunnel is the eye-catching part of the #Rotterdamsebaan; the new road that connects the Ypenburg interchange with the ring road of The Hague in The Netherlands. This project is a prime example of sustainable infrastructure, for example when it comes to design, air quality, and energy. Sustainability and safety were paramount in the selection of building materials hence the choice for Roxtec sealing solutions for cable and pipe penet...rations. All 50+ technical installations are operated from the service building above the tunnel (with solar panels on the roof). Roxtec cables and pipes transits have been used for all electrical and some of the mechanical systems. On the roof of the service building, Roxtec Swan Neck frames are used. For a cable duct with many cables from different systems, a special solution was needed. During construction, René Blauwhoff, Roxtec BV, provided advice and on-site support.
